Rafi’s lone song was emphatic

As I mentioned in my post on Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh, Shankar Jaikishan were surprising Filmfare Award winners in 1961. So there had to be a shocking loser, right?

Believe it or not, it was none other than Naushad Ali, who composed the music of the 1960 epic Mughal-E-Azam, who was pipped to the post.

This blog contains posts on five songs from the film.

Mohammed Rafi’s sole contribution to it – Aye Mohabbat Zindabad – was five minutes and three seconds long.

He rendered it forcefully, and was backed by a chorus.

Shakeel Badayuni penned it.
