Rafi’s version was more popular

If the four songs from Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961) on this blog were to be arranged in the alphabetical order, Jiya O Jiya would be the first.

The blog contains a post on the male version of the song, which was rendered by Mohammed Rafi.

It was more popular than the female version, rendered by Lata Mangeshkar.

And that was because it was picturised on Dev Anand, who set many a maiden’s jiya (heart) aflutter.

The title track of the film, it was penned by Hasrat Jaipuri, and composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
