Mukesh Sa(ra)nga Sardar Malik composition

The legacy of Sardar Malik, the unheralded composer of the Golden Era, lives on primarily with his son, 1990s hotshot Anu Malik, and, of late, with his grandsons, composer Amaal Mallik and singer Armaan Malik.

But the late head of the clan is best remembered for the title track of Saranga, which released in 1961.

The film’s soundtrack featured a couple of versions of the song, titled Saranga Teri Yaad Mein.

Mukesh rendered the better-known version, the only track from the film on this blog.

Mohammed Rafi sang the other version.

Bharat Vyas penned them.
