It wAs(h)among Rafi’s best duets

If the four songs from Hum Dono (1961) were arranged in the alphabetical order, Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar would be the first.

There’s no two ways about the fact that this duet, where he implores his beloved and she sweetly goes, “Nahin nahin”, echoed the sentiment of every lover.

But in 1980, when Mohammed Rafi, who rendered it, passed away, it could well have been the song on his fans’ lips.

He was joined behind the microphone by the one and only Asha Bhosle.

The track, which Sahir Ludhianvi penned, was composed by Jaidev.
