Indeed, Shanti kept calm forever

Mehboob Khan’s magnum opus, Mother India, continues to be as fresh in every Hindi film buff’s consciousness today as it was in 1957 (when the film released).

But if it were not for one song, Son of India (1962) – which was his last film – would have faded out of it quicker than it did.

The track in question was Nanha Munna Raahi Hoon.

The patriotic song for kids was four minutes and 13 seconds long.

It was rendered by Shanti Mathur and a chorus.

Shakeel Badayuni penned the track, which was composed by Naushad Ali.
