In my post on Husn Wale Tera Jawaab Nahin from Gharana, I mentioned that Mohammed Rafi
lost the 1962 Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer to himself.
Incidentally, the winning track was also picturised on Rajendra Kumar – it was Teri Pyari Pyari Soorat Ko, the only song from Sasural (1961) on this blog.
The first verse of the song, which Hasrat Jaipuri penned, contained a phrase that inspired the title of a film that released a couple of decades later – Chashme Buddoor (Persian for far be the evil eye).
It was composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
