Rafi bagged his first award

Indeed, firsts are the most special things in anyone’s life, and this is a post on the song that earned Mohammed Rafi his maiden Filmfare Award in the Best Male Playback Singer category in 1961.

The track in question was Chaudhvin Ka Chand.

It was the only song from the film, which released in 1960, on this blog.

Incidentally, it also earned Shakeel Badayuni the first of his three consecutive Filmfare Awards in the Best Lyricist category.

Ravi Shankar Sharma (known mononymously as Ravi) earned his first Filmfare nomination in the Best Music Director category.
