This Lata solo was haunting

Raja Mehdi Ali Khan’s haunting verse likened tears to the pitter-patter of rain.

The song in question was Naina Barse Rimjhim Rimjhim.

It was the longest of the three tracks from Woh Kaun Thi? on this blog – it was five minutes and 55 seconds long.

There was just one version on the film’s soundtrack, and no prizes for guessing that it was rendered by Lata Mangeshkar (who was under the weather when it was recorded).

Interestingly, the one who stood in for her at that point was none other than Madan Mohan, who composed it.
