Deservedly, it was (R)aFilmfare winner

If the two songs from Suraj (1966) on this blog were arranged in the alphabetical order and the ascending order of their durations*, Baharon Phool Barsao – voted the best Hindi film song ever – would be the first.

While the film earned Shankar Jaikishan the Filmfare Best Music Director Award in 1967, the song earned Hasrat Jaipuri and Mohammed Rafi trophies in the Best Lyricist and Best Playback Singer categories, respectively, at the same ceremony.

It inspired an English track titled Although We Hail From Different Lands.

(*Note: It was four minutes and 28 seconds long.)
