Remember the portion in Dhoom Tana from Om Shanti Om (2007) in which Deepika Padukone,
essaying the part of an actress from the 1970s, dances a la Vyjayanthimala?
Well folks, cinematic liberties were taken – the original song dates back to 1966.
It was Jaao Re, and it was from Amrapali.
The only song from the film on this blog, it was rendered by the one and only Lata Mangeshkar.
It was penned by Shailendra, and composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
For the record, Vyjayanthimala called time on her acting career by the end of the 1960s.
