If the
three Mohammed Rafi solos from Guide were
to be arranged in the alphabetical order, Din
Dhal Jaaye would be the first.
While the song in its entirety was superb, there’s no two ways about the fact that the Hai (the sigh between Din Dhal Jaaye and Raat Na Jaaye) was its highlight.
Burman was nominated in the Best Music Director category at the Filmfare Awards in 1967 (for which he, inexplicably, vied with a couple of films that released in 1966). SaDly, he did not take the trophy home.
Shailendra penned the track.
