One of the
previous posts on this blog was on Hum
Tere Pyar Mein, from Dil Ek Mandir.
While that track
was penned by Hasrat Jaipuri and rendered by Lata Mangeshkar, the film’s
soundtrack featured a male solo containing the word for cage – Yaad Na Jaaye Beete Dinon Ki.
A line of the
song, which Shailendra penned, went, “Din
jo pakheru hote pinjre mein main rakh leta” (which means, “If days were
birds, I would keep them in a cage”).
Mohammed Rafi
rendered the Shankar Jaikishan composition, which was four minutes and 23
seconds long.
