Mukesh was on self-destruct mode

While there’s absolutely nothing wrong in crooning, “Teri Yaad Dil Se Bhulaane Chala Hoon”, one knows he has a humongous problem on his hands when he renders the next line of the Mukesh solo, which went, “Ke khud apni hasti mitaane chala hoon”.

On the one hand, it wouldn’t be incorrect to state that the song, from Hariyali Aur Rasta, was melodious.

And on the other, it spelled self-destruct with a capital S, with every verse going from bad to worse.

The song was penned by none other than Shailendra, and composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Mukesh sang this immortal compL(at)aint

Over the decades, many a Hindi film song has been a complaint of sleeplessness by lovers.

But, as this is a blog dedicated to songs from Hindi films released between 1960 and 1968, there’s no two ways about the fact that there wasn’t a more melodious way to express the feelings of a couple who have pulled off an all-nighter worrying about the future of their relationship in the said period than Allah Jaane Kya Hoga Aage, from Hariyali Aur Rasta (1962).

Hasrat Jaipuri penned the Shankar Jaikishan composition.

Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh rendered it.
